Alan grew up in Trussville as a member of First Baptist Church. Having worked as a dermatopathologist for a number of years, he is excited to be back in Trussville and serving on staff at First Baptist.

His undergraduate degree is in chemistry from Samford University. He completed medical school, residency, and fellowship training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received the MDiv from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is finishing an MLitt at the University of St Andrews in practical theology and working on the ThM and PhD at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Church History and Systematic Theology.

He enjoys spending time with his wife Dina and eight active children, reading broadly, fly fishing, hiking in the mountains, and having a great cup of coffee.
