James 5:16 tells us, "Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The intense prayer of the righteous is very powerful." At First Baptist, we are a praying church.  We believe prayer still has the power to unleash the Holy Spirit to do the work of God among His people.  With that in mind, we want to be careful to bathe everything we do in prayer, making the concerns of our people, our church, our community, our nation and our world a daily matter of prayer.

There are a number of ways you may be involved in the Prayer Ministry at First Baptist.  Click on any of the links to the right to see just a few.

    Altar Prayer Warriors

At the close of every worship service, Intercessory Prayer Cards are placed at the altar.  These cards have prayer needs written on them by those within our church who have filled them out, and those beyond our walls who have called our church asking for prayer support.

Please feel free to come and pray for these needs as you are led by the Holy Spirit. There is no need to "sign up", just show up at the close of of the service during the invitation, and intercede for the needs as God leads you.   Return to Top

    Prayer Teams
Our prayer teams are charged with the task of praying for our church during our morning worship services.  It is our desire that as people walk onto our campus, they immediately feel the refreshing Spirit of God upon them, freeing them to open their hearts to the Lord Jesus to let God's will be done in   their lives that day, and even beyond. If you would like to be on a prayer team, contact Kathy Wilson in the Pastor's Office for details on how to be a part of this ministry.   Return to Top

    Intercessory Prayer Room

Located on the main floor of the Richard Frances Education Building, this room is available 24 hours a day. Feel free to stop by anytime.

Each week the prayer cards from the worship services are placed in the room for follow up prayer, where people may come and pray for the needs.   Return to Top

    Sunday School Prayer Chains
In addition to the corporate efforts of our Prayer Ministry, many Sunday School classes have prayer chains of their own to provide opportunities for immediate needs that arise.

You can get information on your Sunday School class's prayer chain within your class and/or from your Sunday School teacher.
