It’s as simple as ABC:
Admit: The first step to becoming a Christian is to admit that you are a sinner.
Sin is simply disobedience to God, and all of us are guilty of it. In fact, God’s Word tells us: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
Believe: The next step is to believe that Jesus, God’s Son, died for your sins.
Very few of us would be willing to lay down our own life for the life of another. But that’s exactly what Jesus did for you. As Romans 5:8 tells us: God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Confess: The final step is confessing that Jesus is Lord.
He is who He says He is. And just as you would “claim” anyone you love, Jesus wants you to confess Him to other people…in hopes of them finding His love as well. …if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
You can settle the issue right now, not having to wait or wonder. By praying this prayer or one like it, you are talking to the God who loves you so much that He willingly paid the ultimate price for your sin; this so that you could know Him and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. Jesus died on a cross for you, taking your place so that you could live. Why? Because He loves you, and because you’re worth more to Him than you’ll ever know. If you’re ready to ask Him into your heart and life, please pray this prayer today:
“Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that You rose from the grave. Please forgive me for my sins, and I ask You to save my soul. As best I know how, I give my life to You today. In Your name I pray, amen.”
