And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel. Genesis 3:15
In this scripture we must understand that when we see the word “I”, it is God speaking. The word “enmity” comes from the same root as “enemy,” and our LORD specifically designates Satan as the enemy. In the previous scripture we know that God had created a perfect garden free from sin for mankind. Sin disturbs our peace, destroys our comfort and steals our joy. Sin began in the Garden of Eden when the serpent (Satan) convinced Adam and Eve to disobey God. Even then the gospel was foretold in the curse that was put on Satan. God demonstrated the greatest gift of love when he gave His only son to free us from our sins. Through the saving work of Jesus Christ, the damage done by Adam and Eve could be undone…not by getting back to the perfect garden on earth, but by getting to Heaven after our earthly life ends. The birth, death and resurrection of Jesus is victory over the sin of man from the power of Satan. Christ was declared the victor when God said “he will crush your head.” Jesus has given us victory over Satan with a mortal wound that will destroy Satan and evil. For believers this is our hope and future. Jesus became a substitute for our sins and the means by which we will spend eternity with our heavenly Father in perfect peace, praising Him in all His glory.
Lord give me the understanding that I do have a HOPE and realize that this hope is you. Let me praise you for interceding for me in the forgiveness of my sins. Let me live a life that is holy and acceptable to you and strive to be more Christ like everyday. Amen.
