Benaiah was a man of noble ancestry and ambition. Born well, Benaiah sought to live well, seeing his life as a challenge to personal and individual responsibility. And challenges he liked. Born in an age of warfare, Benaiah was a commander in David’s army with a seemingly endless track record of victory. To say he was brave would be an understatement. Slaying the enemies of God’s people…no matter how many, how big, or how tall…was all in a day’s work for this servant. Not even a lion…the mother of all earthly predators…was a match. But this warrior didn’t just get his valor from training. It came from somewhere…or Someone…else.
