About Higher Ground
Higher Ground Jail and Prison Ministries is a ministry led by Gary VanStone. Gary works within the Shelby County Jail and Coosa Valley Youth Services in Anniston, distributing Bibles and ministering to those incarcerated there. He also leads chapel services at the Jimmie Hale Mission, the State Veterans Home in Pell City and donates devotional booklets to the ladies at the Lovelady Center.

Opportunities to Serve
Shelby County Jail
- Men and women to lead small group Bible Studies inside the Jail. Men minister to men. Women minister to women. Annual Volunteer Training/Certification required. Monthly or quarterly commitment.
- Provide Bibles for the inmates
- Prayer warriors
- Annual Christmas Inmate Fellowship Services – Help provide special refreshments for the services.
Evangelistic Crusades to Juvenile Facilities
- Glory 2000 Evangelistic Motorcycle Crusades are scheduled periodically. These are one day events.
- Singers and musicians
- Sharers of the Gospel message one-on-one during the Crusade
- Refreshment coordinators and servers
- Prayer warriors
Note: Don't have to ride a motorcycle to participate
