PRAY As A Spiritual Discipline

The Bible gives us many instructions on Prayer

  • Pray daily (Matthew 6:11) - “Give us today our daily bread.”
  • Pray early (Psalm 5:3) - “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
  • Pray worshipfully (Revelation 4:11) - “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
  • Pray thankfully (Colossians 4:2) - “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
  • Pray Expectantly (Romans 8:26-29) - “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
  • And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
  • Pray Scripturally (James 5:13) - “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
